Challenges in detail

The challenge with this sculpture was to use the glaze to match the movement. After a long consultation on the colour match between the jewels and the enamel, Marie-Pierre Belgary, enameller and bronze artist, shaped copper plates in long hammer work so that they fit perfectly and give the glaze squares a lively appearance.

After the first hammering the gold, five firings were carried out to achieve the desired intensity of the red enamel – followed by long work of hammering to keep the squares of enamels on the dress of the sculpture extremely vivid. Olivier Delmas created a patina of the colour amber entirely original for this work of art.

About Paul Beckrich

Born in Brittany in 1955, Paul Beckrich was influenced early on by the creativity of his mother, who had previously worked as a first-hand and designer in a Parisian haute couture house. Paul Beckrich’s works are inspired by his numerous travels, mainly through Africa and Asia, to which he gives an amazing mix of movement and lightness. His sculptures are dressed in folkloric or medieval garments whose materiality is rendered in an incredibly natural way.
