About Padishah

The brilliant military strategist subdued the king of the Medes and incorporated all the Iranian tribes into his empire. After taking the lands around Mesopotamia, Cyrus finally marched on Babylon. The Babylonians saw no reason to oppose him, who was known to spare those who surrendered to him. In 539, therefore, they opened the gates to the Persians, who entered the city "in peace and amid joy and rejoicing", according to an inscription describing Cyrus' triumph.

"What I wanted to depict in this sculpture is the embodiment of a great king who, through his wise and empathetic actions, became a role model for all his descendants, the kings and great kings of Iran," Paul Beckrich explains.
