Birth Cycle No. VI-JJ Pela-Luxvivendi

About Birth Cycle No. VI

The artwork was created from more than two hundred years old wood from a linden tree that had rotted in the centre and been blown over by a storm. As with every sculpture in this series, JJ Pela has preserved the natural form of the tree in order to tell its story - a story of which he has now become a part. The upper part of the object consists of heat-bent acacia branches (symbolising new life) combined with naturally bent pine branches.

About JJ Pela

The Warsaw born artist JJ Pela is constantly inspired by life and loves to tell stories in a multi-layered and poetic way. His sculptures illustrate and manifest all his thoughts, fears, questions, joys, love – life itself. The wood from which his sculptures are made comes from trees that have naturally turned into scrap wood and fire is his medium and tool.

About JJ Pela

After more than two and a half decades as a freelancer in the production of interior design objects, JJ Pela established himself successfully as an independent artist who has since focused on the creation of expressive wooden sculptures. Pela uses only naturally occurring broken wood and treats it using the traditional Japanese Shou-Sugi-Ban method. JJ Pela made his first appearance on the international art scene by taking part in the exhibition "Abstract Art & Art Mind" at The Brick Lane Gallery in London in 2022.
