Innovation pays off

Touring Superleggera was initially founded in 1926 as Carrozzeria Touring by car designer Felice Bianchi Anderloni. The manufactory made a name for itself with its patented "Superleggera" chassis construction (Italian for "super light"), as its design simplified the construction of prototypes and small series compared to the wooden frames commonly used at that time. In addition to saving weight, a second aim was to reduce drag. This made Touring one of the very first companies to experiment with wind tunnels and its founder Anderloni coined the phrase: "Weight is the enemy, air resistance is the obstacle".

Illustrious customers

After the Second World War, a new manufacturer caused a sensation around the world with its extremely successful racing cars. He and his cars went down in history, but he owed his initial success to his favourite coachbuilder, Touring. His name: Enzo Ferrari. A little later, in the 1960s, Touring was responsible for the chassis of most European manufacturers of sports cars and Gran Turismo - including, for example, the 350 GT, which was the first sports car produced in series by Lamborghini and whose production ended in 1967. To this day, Touring Superleggera has remained true to its roots, creating unique, customised cars for discerning private individuals with exquisite taste or very limited series built to order.
