Le Bristol Paris

Born in the roaring 20s

In 1923, Hippolyte Jammet acquired the property to transform it into a luxurious hotel. He named it Le Bristol Paris in homage to Bishop Frederick Hervey, 4th Earl of Bristol, an eighteenth-century traveller known for his love of comfort and high standards. The hotel opened in April 1925, when the Roaring Twenties were in full swing. It was the heyday of Josephine Baker and the Charleston, and during this carefree and dynamic period, Paris attracted all the big names in culture and fashion, such as Balenciaga, Chanel, Picasso, Mondrian and Dali.

The modern interpretation of classic elegance

After Rudolf Oetker acquired Le Bristol in 1978, the hotel was extended with sixty new rooms and suites, an indoor garden and a spectacular pool on the sixth floor in the 1980s, designed by Professor Pinnau, architect of the famous Onassis’ yacht. In 2018 Le Bristol Paris was resplendent after a lavish and impeccably discreet six-year refurbishment, and it remains today, as it has always been, an integral part of the uniquely sophisticated, cosmopolitan and elegant city on the Seine.
