Only the best from the start

The Flensburg-based silver manufacturer Robbe & Berking was founded in 1874 and, now in its 5th generation, has remained a pure family business to this day. What founder Nikolaus Christoph Robbe said in his early years as an entrepreneur and silversmith applies to present and future: "Others may be cheaper, but no one may be better than us."

For generations of discerning hosts

It is not the limited possibilities of rational large-scale production, but the hands of the master craftsmen alone that determine the shape and quality of each piece. This is how cutlery and tableware of timeless elegance and beauty are created, which never just follow passing fashions or trends, but are made to last for generations. As the market leader in silver cutlery, Robbe & Berking is a supplier to the world's finest houses.

The beginnings

The history of Robbe & Berking begins in 1874 with Nicolaus Christoph Robbe, a silversmith who sets up his own workshop in Flensburg, thus laying the foundation of the company. In 1897 Nicolaus Christoph Robbe hires the young master silversmith Robert Berking. Robert falls in love with Henriette Robbe, the daughter of his boss, marries her and takes a 50 percent share in the company.

In 1957 Robert Berking joins the company and in the four decades of his work, he transforms the house from a regional supplier to Europe's largest manufacturer of silver cutlery. Many of the cutlery collections he designed became real classics in the following decades.

The global market leader from Flensburg

In 1985, Oliver Berking, now the fifth generation of the family, began working in the silver manufactory, which he later took over completely. In the years that followed, the Flensburg-based manufactory developed from a European to a world market leader in silver cutlery. In the summer of 2008, the Robbe & Berking Classics yacht yard is also founded, which builds classic motor and sailing yachts as well as replicas of particularly beautiful classics at Flensburg's city harbour.

In 2021, in order to continually prove its own innovative strength, the shipyard's boat-building colleagues develop the Robbe & Berking bar trolley as a wonderful stage for all of the bar collection products of the manufactory.
