Peter Reed uses only the finest cotton cloths made from extra-long, Egyptian or American Supima® cotton, depending on which harvest has yielded the best results. For this reason, every single hem is sewn by hand, every detail checked and rechecked by the highly skilled craftspeople. More than 150 years of craftsmanship

Reed's quest for textile perfection goes back over 150 years, to the middle of the 19th century, when the industrial revolution started in England and Lancashire was the centre of the newly mechanised cotton industry. Clothing, uniforms, upholstery fabrics, towels, bedding – the world demanded the best, and the mills in Lancashire supplied it. In 1861, Peter Reed began producing the finest luxury linens on water-powered looms on the slopes of Pendle Hill and moved in 1891 to the town of Nelson - named after Napoleon's arch enemy.

A proud supplier to the royal court for 15 years

Peter Reed's former Springbank Mill was once the second largest weaving mill in the world with no fewer than 748 weaving shuttles. Today, Nelson is quieter, but still a hive of activity as Peter Reed’s craftspeople rely on skills passed down through generations to produce bed linen that is good enough for a queen. In fact, in 2008 the company was awarded the Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen as manufacturers of bed linen.
