Dream bikes made in Italy

Manufacturing and building all of their bikes in Italy near Milan, Passoni has developed a worldwide reputation for creating exceptional bike frames in carbon-fibre, steel and titanium, designed for those with a true appreciation of fine craftsmanship. Passoni is one of the very few real high-end-brands in the cycling world – it is the blend of unsurpassed quality, multiple customization options and an incomparably stylish design that put this brand in a class of its own.

Passoni - Luxvivendi

A true commitment to quality

Passoni sources the best materials in carbon, steel, or titanium in the sector. They use only grade 9 (3Al / 2,5V) and grade 5 (6Al / 4V) titanium – meeting ASTM aerospace industrial standards. The industry-leading carbo-titanium and carbon fibre is sourced from Veneto, while they use Columbus XCR stainless steel tubing in their top tier steel bikes. Passoni frames are all manufactured under close scrutiny in their own atelier to maintain quality control at every juncture. Yet while each Passoni is a masterpiece of great craftsmanship and quality, this shouldn’t overshadow the simple fact of how it rides: it is a supreme pleasure at every pedal stroke.

A historic encounter

Founded in 1989 by Luciano Passoni, the brand is the first company to produce titanium bicycles in Italy. Passoni was inspired by a chance encounter on the climb to the Madonna del Ghisallo near Lake Como. Halfway up the climb, Luciano Passoni, a keen amateur cyclist, met another rider with an unusual-looking frame. They struck up a conversation and the rider, Amelio Riva, told Passoni that he had built the frame himself from titanium - a material that was unknown in the cycling world at the time.

Passoni's curiosity was aroused, and he commissioned Riva to build him a frame from this exotic metal. Upon delivery, he was immediately fascinated by the potential of his new frame but tried unsuccessfully to convince Riva to build frames with him. Undeterred, Passoni set out and the brand was born.

Passion that is passed on

Luca Passoni took over the company from his father in 1995 and ensured a noticeable increase in demand. Passoni's reputation quickly became so prestigious that it was rumoured that pros were riding them in the Grand Tours, disguised as frames from the big brands.

Since 2012 Passoni is co-owned by the Italian entrepreneur and bike enthusiast Matteo Cassina, who is also involved in the London-based cycling magazine “Rouleur” and in the high-quality sport apparel brand “ashmei”. To this day, Passoni is the epitome of the dream bike - made to be ridden for a lifetime.
